STRATEGIC PLANNING
Our Strategic Plan is built around our mission statement:
Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic School exists to provide:
- a welcoming Catholic Community
- a challenging academic curriculum
- and unlimited opportunities to grow in virtue.
Each of the three parts of our mission is meant to be used as a goal. Each of these goals contains target objectives that are designed to move us closer to an expected outcome.
This plan was developed by the principal, Erin Vader, the Very Reverend Michael F. Olson, pastor, and the School Advisory Council: Philip Hernandez, president, Daniel Martinez, vice-president, Stuart Sumner, secretary, and at-large members: Chris Ducic, Shane Grieve, Claudia Martinez, Leslie Skero, and Debbie Molinar. This committee used information gathered formally through school surveys and informally through input from faculty, parents, home and school officers, parishioners, etc. The strategic plan is used as an over-arcing guide for the directions in which we want to guide SPS; specific and detailed actions to be taken may be found in the SPS Three-Year Plan, which is updated annually.

Expected Outcome:
Implementation of these objectives will help us achieve our goal of creating a welcoming community that communicates well with all its constituencies. Students, staff, parents, parishioners will all fell involved and vested in the continued success of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School.
…provide a challenging academic curriculum…
Curriculum:
- Keep on Diocesan schedule for textbook adoption
- Create line items in the budget for areas like the science lab, the library, art program, computer lab, etc.
- Continue to provide professional development opportunities to the faculty in areas including differentiated instruction and curriculum mapping
Faculty:
- As the budget will support add the following:
- a technology staff member
- part/full-time art teacher
- development staff member
- qualified school counselor
- Pay scale increase for staff as a whole. Ultimately reaching a minimum of 75% of White Settlement ISD pay scale.

Implementation of these objectives will help us achieve our goal of providing a challenging academic curriculum for all our students. Teachers will be well-qualified and well-equipped to provide the best academic experience which will result in high levels of achievement for all students.
…provide unlimited opportunities to grow in virtue.
Spiritual Life:
- Encourage participation of students and their families in parish activities and other outside events (SPCC Youth Group, annual diocesan Youth Convention, etc.)
- Reestablish annual retreats for 2nd through 8th grades
- Support the establishment of spiritually based organizations (student/parent prayer groups, the Chalice Program for the promotion of vocations, etc.)
- Support the continuation of the SPS Rosary
Leadership Development:
- Expand volunteer listing for everyone (H&S, Men’s Club, etc.) Encourage listings that could be accomplished by students with supervision, as well.
- Create a resource list of abilities and services provided by families and staff members
- Create a volunteer criteria list for each group
- Continue to support volunteer opportunities for students and staff (Catholic Charities, the SPCC Food Bank, Catholic Relief Services, other local and global organizations).
Expected Outcome:
Implementation of these objectives will help us accomplish our goal of continuing to help our students and their families grow in virtue. While every day offers up multiple ways for all of us to choose to be better Christians, as a school we can provide multiple ways for our students and their families to give back to our community and the world at large.
In support of this mission…
In order to support these goals, three additional objectives must be met:
Marketing and Recruitment:
Until the budget will support a specified development staff member, establish a committee to:
- Prepare an analysis of targeted criteria
- Develop a marketing/enrollment plan based on this analysis
- Develop a marketing template/guide
- Create measurements for routine review of the plan
Finance:
- Establish an endowment for tuition assistance
- Strategize for annual giving and endowment, re: who and when we target appeals
Resource Development:
- Continue to look for ways to support the school outside tuition (grants, long-term giving, etc.)
- Identify potential corporate givers in our community
- Utilize our school, parish, and local community as much as possible
Expected Outcome:
Implementation of these objectives will help us support steady growth at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School. Maintaining and increasing our available funding, while creating a source of income in the future by establishing an endowment will facilitate our ability to support the mission of St. Peter’s.
